The spam filter is designed to block access certain emails that are classed as "spam". Spam is the "junk" mail that you may receive in your emails inbox, it's like the marketing catalogs you receive in your normal mail.
We have 2 filters available:
The first is known as SpamAssassin, it is a mail filter to identify spam, it runs on our server checking each and every piece of email that is sent to our servers, and either tagged as being "Possible Spam" or if requested, simply deleted before it even get's to your inbox.
It is an intelligent email filter which uses a diverse range of tests to identify unsolicited bulk email, more commonly known as Spam. These tests are applied to not only content, but to the whole message, including the headers - hidden information in the email, including their name, email address and the mail server the email originally came from, among other details - to classify email using advanced statistical methods.
Secondly, there are programs which you can install on your computer (some examples are Spamihilator, Norton AntiSpam or McAfee SpamKiller) that checks the email as it is being recieved by your computer, these programs have the advantage of being easier to "train" than the SpamAssassin on our server, because as the email comes in you can select whether it is Spam or Non Spam, and it will use that as a basis for all future emails.
The SpamAssassin is available for all customers at no charge, if you don't want your email checked for spam, or would like the messages that are marked as possible spam to be deleted automatically, please use the Contact Us page, and we will help you out.
