Email Settings..

Most email programs are configured by default to remove email from the mail server once they have picked up the messages. However, sometimes it can be set to leave the messages on the mail server, which over time can add up to quite a large amount. This not only slows down collecting of email at the customers end, it can cause problems at the server end because of large email boxes...
The following steps will explain how to set the 3 most common email clients back to removing mail from the mail server.

Outlook Express (Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP) | Windows Mail (Windows Vista) | Thunderbird (All Windows)

Outlook Express

Click on Tools, then Accounts.


Click on the Mail Tab, highlight your email account, and click on Properties.


Click on the Advanced tab.


Untick "Leave a copy of messages on server.


Click OK, then close.

Windows Mail

Click on Tools, then Accounts.


Highlight your email account, and click on properties.


Click on the tab that says Advanced.


Untick "Leave a copy of messages on server.


Click OK, then close.

Mozilla Thunderbird

Click on Edit, then Properties.


Click on Server Settings, which is underneath the email account name.
Untick "Leave messages on server"


Click OK.
